Lacrosse on TV 2023

The NCAA men’s lacrosse season opens this weekend with a full slate of games on ESPN platforms including ESPNU, ACC Network (ACCN), ESPN3 and ESPN+. ESPN will present more than 280 men’s college lacrosse games this year.

The defending champions of the ACC and CAA are expected to lead the way in both conferences this year. The Blue Jays are the top-ranked team in the preseason coaches’ poll while the Seawolves are No. 2 in the men’s national poll. The Big East is loaded with talent and could challenge for the title.

This year’s NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship will take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia May 25-27. ESPN will provide exclusive coverage of the entire event. The finals will be broadcast on Sunday, May 27 (7 p.m. ET on ESPN). In 2023, the men’s semifinals were the most-watched since 2007, and the title game was the second most-watched since 2010.

NCAA Tournament coverage will begin with the men’s and women’s selection shows on Sunday, May 8 (9 p.m. ET on ESPNU). The first round of the championship will follow on Monday, May 9 (9 p.m. ET on ESPNU). ESPN will air the semifinals on Thursday, May 2 and the final on Saturday, May 4. Lacrosse TV will also carry both championship games.

For those looking for more action, the new professional women’s league, Athletes Unlimited, will kick off its inaugural season this summer with 56 of the world’s best players competing in four weeks of games at The Plex in Maryland. The league will feature former NCAA champions, All-Americans, MLL stars and Tewaaraton winners.

Athletes Unlimited will broadcast all 30 games of the season, with 22 on television and eight on streaming platforms including Facebook and YouTube. The league will also host a college draft to select the top 13 graduating seniors from college and the most promising freshmen.

CBS Sports Network will televise nine men’s and two women’s Patriot League regular-season games this spring. The spring schedule will open on Sunday, March 27, when Navy hosts defending Patriot League baseball champion Army West Point in a men’s lacrosse doubleheader.

The network will then shift to men’s lacrosse on Saturday, April 9, as Loyola Maryland visits Navy and Army West Point takes on Colgate. On Friday, April 29, Lehigh will visit Bucknell before the Greyhounds travel to take on the Black Knights. All of those games will air on CBS Sports Network. LacrosseTV and TLN will also be carrying the action. Neither will have live streaming options for any of these games. They both have a good amount of men’s and women’s games, but not these particular matchups. That’s a shame, as they’d be perfect for online viewing. Hopefully, the networks will expand their streaming offerings this year. It’s time to do so if they want to remain relevant in the face of increasing competition from online options like FloLive. There are plenty of lacrosse fans who would love to see more of the sport on television.
