The Lacrosse Kilt

The kilt is a traditional Scottish garment, traditionally worn for dress and ceremonial occasions. It consists of a knee-length skirt of wool with a pleated lining attached to the rear of the garment. The fabric is woven in a twill pattern, with each weft thread passing over and under two warp threads at each turn of the cloth. When woven according to a specified pattern (called a sett), it is called a tartan. Kilts can be made from a variety of fabrics, with the cloth weight ranging from the very heavy regimental worsteds used for formal wear and Highland games, to light-weight worsteds for casual wear.

Lacrosse players often wear kilts in addition to the other components of their uniform, such as jerseys and shoes with cleats. The kilts are usually made of breathable, sweat-wicking fabrics and allow the players to move freely and confidently. The kilts also help them to stay cool during intense game play.

Customizable women’s Nike lacrosse kilts make the perfect match for your team’s uniform colors and style. They can be sublimated with your school logos, player names and numbers for a personalized look that will stand the test of time. The kilts are also lightweight and comfortable, allowing players to remain focused on the game even during the most competitive matches.

Traditionally, women’s kilts were made of skirts, but in modern times, some teams have chosen to use skorts instead. Skorts are similar to skirts, except they have shorts attached underneath them. This allows female athletes to play the sport without worrying about their skirts getting caught on the ground or pulled up during physical contact. In the future, more teams will likely switch to using skorts in place of skirts.

A basic women’s lacrosse uniform and equipment consists of shirts, a pair of shorts or a kilt, shoes with cleats, socks, mouth guard, chest protector, gloves and soft headgear. The goalie’s uniform and equipment consists of a helmet with face mask, throat protector, padded gloves and chest protector.

The new ‘Lacrosse Scotland Tartan’ was designed with care and integrity to ensure that it represents the Scottish lacrosse community and respects its history, while also looking forward to the future. The predominate colour of the tartan is blue, which aligns with Scotland’s Saltire flag and indicates its national standing.

In addition to the kilts worn by Scottish players, some units of the British Army and armies of other Commonwealth nations with strong Scots heritage continue to wear kilts as part of their dress uniforms for ceremonial occasions, parades and service duties. They are also worn by some bands, including those of the US Naval Academy and the US Military College of Vermont. In the United States, kilts are also worn by members of the pipe and drum bands at many high schools and colleges with Scots-American roots. They are worn at parades and other events, for classroom instruction, mess dinners and band practice.
