USA Lacrosse Magazine Announces 2023 All-Americans

The best college lacrosse players are selected as USA Lacrosse Magazine All-Americans. Each year, the top players from NCAA Division I, MCLA and DIII schools are honored. Whether it’s for the defense, attack or goalie, we recognize those who stand out from their peers with this special distinction.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Eight Patriot League women’s lacrosse student-athletes earned All-American honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine as the publication released its 2023 selections on Tuesday (May 9). Loyola Maryland graduate defender Katie Detwiler and Jillian Wilson each earned first team accolades, while Army West Point midfielder Brigid Duffy received second team recognition. Boston College defensive specialist Hollie Schleicher and attackers Jenn Medjid and Cara Urbank earned third team honors. Tewaaraton Award nominee and Midseason All-American Emily Ball also received honorable mention.

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond senior Dalton Young and junior Lance Madonna both earned All-American honorable mentions from USA Lacrosse Magazine as the organization released its Division 1 Men’s All-Americans on Tuesday. Both players helped the Spiders to a historic season that saw them win their first-ever Atlantic 10 men’s championship. Young set career highs for points (71) and goals (57) while also setting new team records for game-winning goals (4), man up goals (5), ground balls (28) and caused turnovers (13) during his senior campaign.

Madonna also had a memorable season for the Rams, finishing fourth in the nation in goals (31) and points (65) while adding 11 assists. The sophomore was the Big East’s offensive player of the year and a Tewaaraton Award semifinalist. He was the conference’s most valuable player as well as a first team All-BIG EAST selection and all-tournament pick.

MINNEAPOLIS — A few weeks after signing an assistant coach’s contract, University of Minnesota men’s lacrosse head coach Chris Cecere has announced that Mike McCallister will remain on his coaching staff for the remainder of this season. Cecere will add McCallister to an already strong coaching staff that includes veteran assistant Dave Pietramala and rising assistants Joe Breschi and Zach Manns.

A former University of Maryland defender, McCallister spent the past four seasons as an assistant at Duke. He is expected to rejoin the Blue Devils next fall as an assistant under Joe Breschi, according to multiple reports.

The 2025 class is starting to come together as coaches from every Division I program gathered at Maverik Showtime to watch the nation’s top prospects. Inside Lacrosse is on hand to evaluate the best of this group and will publish our rankings shortly.

It’s no secret that the University of Virginia has a great group of seniors on its roster this season, and the Cavaliers dominated the final session of the Inside Lacrosse Invitational. The best of the class deserved to be recognized for their efforts.
